How long is the internship?
We are currently accepting applications for our 2018 Summer Internship. It will begin May 29 and finish on August 19.
Is this a paid internship?
The Livecoast internship is not a paid internship.
Do you provide housing?
We do not provide intern housing. It is up to each individual to find their own housing.
Do I need a car?
Although a car is not required, it is highly recommended. Each intern will have responsibilities that require them to have guaranteed mobility. If you are unable to secure transportation while you are here, it is important that you ensure you are able to transport to wherever you are needed.
Will I be able to work an outside job while interning?
Yes, however, please only consider taking outside work if your job will in no way interfere with your responsibilities related to the internship. Interns are encouraged to consider fundraising or aligning support prior to the start of the internship. You can expect to have the following expenses: your food, gas, extracurricular purchases, and any housing costs.
What are the hours during the week?
This is a 20 hour per week commitment. Interns will be working approximately 15 hours from Tuesday-Thursday and 5 hours every Sunday.
What is the summer schedule?
WELCOME WEEK: (May 29—June 3) (Evenings on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday + Sunday Livecoast from 5-10pm)
FIRST SESSION: (June 5—June 17) (1-5pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays + Sundays Livecoast from 5-10pm)
BREAK: (June 20-28 - but will have Sunday Livecoast from 5-10pm during that week)
SECOND SESSION: (July 1—August 19) (9am-3pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays + Sundays Livecoast from 5-10pm)
What does a typical week look like?
Each week will consist of group time, personal spiritual development, and leadership training. All other weekly activity and responsibilities will be determined by an intern’s area of ministry.
Will I be able to take time off?
There is one scheduled break during the internship program during June 20-28. Otherwise, we want our interns to get a full experience and as much out of the 10-week internship as possible, so we do not allow for any additional time off to leave during the Summer Internship (other than time-off approved before entrance into program). It is a short three months that will fly by!
A huge part of working in ministry is fasting and praying. We will challenge our interns to push themselves both spiritually and physically through opportunities like times of fasting.
Your ministry experience will extend beyond the walls of the church. We will have opportunities to step out of our comfort zones and step into our community to serve those in need.
Southern California is an amazing place to live, filled with places to adventure and sights to see. We will be taking select Saturdays to hit the beach, surf, hike, and adventure as a community.
