GAINING MOMENTUM IN RELATIONSHIPS

What is the best relationship advice you have received?

What has been your biggest challenge when it comes to relationships?

We were all designed to give love and to receive love.  Yet, love is a funny thing.  It can give us our greatest joy, and at the same time our deepest heartache.

Read Genesis 2:18-25

From the very beginning, God brought man and woman into the most intimate expression of human relationship.  On Sunday Jon asked us this question, “who created love, romance, sex, and marriage? Is it a product of culture or a product of creation?” Genesis 2:18-25 gives us our answer…  GOD created it and desperately wants us to have healthy, lasting, love-filled relationships!

But there’s a problem… Remember our theme verse for this series?

John 10:10 - “The thief’s purpose is to steal, kill, and destroy.”

We find ourselves in one unhealthy relationship after another.  50% of all marriages end in divorce.  We have believed the lie that God’s version of love isn’t worth it.

But it doesn’t have to be this way!

The second part of the verse says, “My purpose (God’s purpose) is to give you a rich, and satisfying life.”

On Sunday Jon gave us 7 keys to a healthy relationship:

1.    Healthy relationships connect on the deeper stuff

2.    Healthy relationships aren’t driven by sex

3.    Healthy relationships help you grow into a better YOU

4.    Healthy relationships are consistent/stable

5.    Healthy relationships are supported by friends and family

6.    Healthy relationships help you grow closer to God

7.    Healthy relationships are never just about the relationship

Out of the 7 keys to a healthy relationship, what are the three that stood out to you most? What is one (or more) that you feel you could grow in?

What kind of a relationship are you currently in?

What kind of relationship do you want?

What action step(s) will you take to pursue a healthy God honoring relationship? What do you need to start doing? What do you need to stop doing?

God created love, God defines love, and God gave us the fullest expression of love through his son Jesus Christ on the cross.  Let’s pursue the best relationships, marriages, and love so we can show the world how good and beautiful our God really is!
